Search for missing bushwalker near Townsville

Police and Emergency Services Queensland (EMQ) personnel will continue searching for a bushwalker who was reported missing around 8pm last night. The man, believed to be in his early twenties, had set off for a walk to a waterfall in the Bowling Green Bay National Park (about 30km south of Townsville) yesterday afternoon, and the alarm was raised when he failed to return to the Alligator Creek Campgrounds. The EMQ Rescue Helicopter conducted a brief search last night, and will return to the area, along with police and SES volunteers, at first light this morning.
